Description

Hey folks, been two months now since my last deviation. Time flies by fast, huh? Not like I’ve been slackin’ though, hovering around 150 Work In Progress drawings as we speak. God’s know when I will finish the bulk of them, maybe next lifetime. Anyways:

Two years later, and this particular drawing of mine is still going strong, albeit one could argue that’s because what else can be found in my gallery leaves a lot to desire, but I digress.

So, this is a re-mastery of sorts, a remake of what I would perhaps consider my “Master Piece” thus far. Not because it looks technically good, but because it was one of the few drawings of mine that just “Clicked”. Everything worked from the beginning to the very end. The concept was executed successfully, the lineart worked well. The shading didn’t break my mental process, and the after effects truly enhanced the original piece. There was no arguing with myself, no tossing pencils at the walls or muttering curses in a corner. The moment the pencil was laid down, to the moment I put it away, I felt content with the process. Such drawings are rare for me, mostly because I go mental. It’s my curse, and it’s my obstacle to overcome.

For comparison’s sake, here’s the original drawing and concept:

The differences can be especially noted in the second link, where the lineart of the old concept is shown.

For this Remake I wanted to make him even more brutal, wild and vicious than before. The easiest step was to add fur. Although I really hate shading it, it works well in this particular case. Even more so since the fur of this character is never rendered normally. A shade of hair here and there works well, no need to go overboard.

I am still undecided about his facial features, although they do enhance his brutal traits, he lose some cute points. I feel this is important for the concept, in a sinister kind of way. I’d be glad to hear your thoughts regarding this.

His mouth is hidden, but I wanted to make it more obvious that he’s a man eating monster. Thus, a trail of flesh was added from the eye to the mouth. I think that’s cute, but hey, that’s just the craze in me talkin’.

Well, that’s it for now. We’ll see when I go about the painted version. ‘Till then.

look, I'm sorry. I don't know if you intentionally used his design or not, but i just know someone who's kind of pissed cause he came up with this design a while ago and put it up on facebook, and then everyone started stealing it and using it and modifying it without even asking his permission. I don't mean to be rude if you didn't know, but whatever. You're clearly a very good artist and you really don't need to use anyone else's designs like this.
